Low cut ankle socks that don’t slip off the feet.

This pattern explains in a clear step by step way how to knit low cut sneaker socks that don’t slip off the feet as we walk or even run.

If you’d like to see how these socks are knitted from start to finish,
watch Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of the Sneaker Socks knit-along.

YARN

Any sock yarn (wool or wool blend) that has the equivalent of 200 m / 210 yds in 50 g / 1.7 oz (it is consistent with Sport weight that is marked by digit 2 on the yarn label).

You will need 120, 135 / 160, 170, 180 / 170, 190, 200, 210 m (130, 150 / 170, 180, 195 / 190, 205, 220, 230 yds)

As you see, because the socks are low cut, for most sizes you will only need one 50 g / 1.7 oz ball of yarn.

NEEDLES

2.5 mm (US size 1.5) circular needles that are at least 80 cm / 32” long.

NOTIONS

1 locking stitch marker or a safety pin, 1 wool needle.

These socks are worked from the toe up using the magic loop technique.

The pattern is supported by step by step photo instructions and five video tutorials that demonstrate the techniques used to make these socks.

Happy knitting 🙂

Love the fit and feel of this sock!
First time making a toe up sock and I love it! Fits very well, genius construction. Thank you!

  4. Lisa P

Best fitting sneaker sock I have made to date. The short rows allow these socks to fit well without sliding down into your shoe during the day.

  5. Valerie G

Great sock pattern! These socks came out wonderfully! I seem to have trouble with knitting a bit tight, but was able to figure out gauge with subsequent attempts. (Good thing I have a friend with smaller feet!) I love wearing no-show socks with my sneakers, and these are perfect. The video knit-along tutorial was extremely helpful too.

I’ve worn/washed these several times now, and they’re awesome. I ALWAYS walk the heels out of socks I make, but not these because of the extra room the pattern gives. I’m so thrilled. I hate store socks, but it was so much work to keep up with torn heels. I’ve made another 3 pair and will be throwing out the store socks as soon as I have enough to get through a week.

This is an awesome fitting sock that doesn’t slip down in your shoe, wear them for bowls so very comfy.

I must have strange feet, really skinny and long. I make custom fit socks and my measurements aren’t close to yours. However, when I used my measurements with your pattern, they turned out perfect. The heel is amazing, so easy to do and they stay put! Thank you for such a great pattern! I will be making plenty of these.
