This sweater has a fantastic fit – it flows around the body and seems to have a precise shaping. The truth is – there is almost no shaping at all. The fit is created by the garter stitch and the sideways construction.
The sweater is knit in one piece with just two seams and no other intricate finishing. That’s good news to all knitters who are not particularly fond of seaming 🙂
Aside from making those two seams, this project is unbelievably simple – only plain knit stitches with a few increases and decreases required for the neckline.
And even those simple techniques are explained in the video tutorials that accompany this pattern.
Another significant advantage of this design is that it is incredibly versatile. It looks equally well with casual jeans and a classic pencil skirt, with high heels and heavy boots, in an office environment and at a camping site.
It is so comfortable that you can wear it when you ski, skate, bike or engage in any other kind of sports.
The pattern provides instructions for 18 sizes:
five regular sizes – to fit bust 88 (92, 96, 100, 104) cm / 34.5 (36.25, 37.75, 39.25, 41)”,
three slim sizes – to fit bust 76 (80, 84) cm / 30 (31.5, 33)”,
five curvy sizes – to fit bust 110 (116, 122, 128, 134) cm / 43.25 (45.5, 48, 50.5, 52.75)”,
and five kids sizes – for 2 (4, 6, 8, 10) yrs / to fit chest 55 (57, 60, 66, 68) cm / 21.5 (22.5, 23.5, 26, 27)”
To help you navigate through the pattern, I made separate pdf files for each group of sizes (regular, slim, curvy and kids).
The sample sweater featured in the photos is made with bamboo yarn. This yarn, as well as any other yarn with a beautiful drape (rayon, modal, silk), enhances the drape of the sweater.
You can use any yarn in DK weight (digit 3 on the yarn label) and 5mm (US size 8) needles. The sweater in the photo is knit with Knitca Bamboo yarn in Mustard colour.
For a better fit, choose a yarn that has a nice draping (bamboo, modal, rayon, silk).
You will need:
around 950 (980, 1030, 1080, 1130) m / 1040 (1080, 1130, 1190, 1240) yds of yarn for regular sizes,
around 820 (870, 910) m / 900 (950, 1000) yds for slim sizes,
around 1190 (1240, 1320, 1380, 1430) m / 1300 (1360, 1450, 1510, 1570) yds for curvy sizes,
and around 330 (410, 500, 590, 740) m / 360 (450, 550, 650, 810) yds for kids sizes.
Happy knitting 🙂
