If you’ve ever wanted to whip up blankets without using a pattern, but were somewhat reluctant (or scared 🙂 to start from scratch, I have a solution for you. I made a step by step pattern for a basic blanket that I call a Friendly Blanket.
There are two reasons why I picked this name – first, the pattern is full of tips and detailed explanations of different options you can choose in every step of the blanket-knitting process. It is a lot like a friend showing a friend how to knit a blanket.
The other reason why this blanket is called “friendly” is that it makes a great gift for a friend. In several hours of mindless relaxed knitting you can make a versatile blanket that will keep anyone cosy in pretty much any situation – a road trip, an evening by the lake, a night at a campground, or just a short coffee break in the fresh air.
The pattern is highly adjustable and you can use it to make a blanket in any size with any chunky yarn you have on hand.
The instructions are supported by a detailed knit along that will help you better understand how to knit a blanket. Follow the links in the pattern to watch the knit along and to learn different ways to join a new ball of yarn and weave in yarn tails.
You can also download this pattern from the Library of Free Knitting Resources.
P.S. This is a digital download. Once you get the pattern, you will receive a confirmation with a unique link to download the PDF file with the pattern.
Patterns are for individual use only. When you download this pattern, you agree to use it only for non-commercial needs. You may not distribute or sell electronic or paper copies of this pattern. Thank you.
