Facile Sweater

I called this sweater “Facile” (it means “easy, effortless” in French) because the construction of this sweater is very simple. But the stitch patterns are arranged in such a way that creates a lovely shaping and makes the sweater flow around your body. Without much effort, you create a flattering silhouette that is also very comfortable to wear. This pattern is perfect for a “first sweater” project. It is easy to follow and is supported by five video tutorials that demonstrate the techniques used to make this project. The pattern provides instructions for 18 sizes: Kids’ sizes: to fit chest 55, 57, 60, 66, 68 cm (21.75, 22.5, 23.5, 26,”26.75″)—approximately fits 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 year old kids. Slim Women’s sizes: to fit bust 76, 80, 84 cm (30, 31.5, 33”) Regular Women’s sizes: to fit bust 88, 92, 96, 100, 104 cm (34.75, 36.25, 37.75, 39.25, 41”) Curvy Women’s sizes: to fit bust 110, 116, 122, 128, 134 cm (43.25, 45.75, 48, 50.5, 52.75”) FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Kids’ sizes: chest 58, 60, 63, 69, 71 cm (22.75, 23.50, 24.75, 27.25, 28”) Slim Women’s sizes: bust 80, 84, 88 cm (31.5, 33, 34.75”) Regular Women’s sizes: bust 92, 97, 101, 105, 109 cm (36.25, 38.25, 39.75, 41.25, 43”) Curvy Women’s sizes: bust 116, 122, 128, 134, 141 cm (45.75, 48, 50.5, 52.75, 55.5”) YARN Any bamboo, modal, rayon or viscose yarn that has the equivalent of 95 m / 104 yds in 50 g / 1.7 oz (it is consistent with DK weight that is marked by digit 3 on the yarn label). You will need around 480, 500, 530, 580, 590 / 670, 700, 740 / 770, 800, 840, 880, 910 / 960, 1020, 1070, 1120, 1170 m (530, 540, 570, 630, 650 / 730, 760, 800 / 840, 880, 920, 960, 990 / 1050, 1110, 1170, 1220, 1280 yds) The sweater in the photo is knitted with Knitca Lovely Bamboo yarn in Lotus colour. NEEDLES 5mm (US size 8) The sweater is worked flat so you can use straight needles most of the time. But you will need a short circular needle or double-pointed needles to finish the neckline. NOTIONS 6 locking stitch markers 2 wool needles Several meters of scrap yarn (any yarn that is about as thick as the working yarn) GAUGE 18 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in mixed stitch pattern after blocking. It is very important to block the swatch before you measure the gauge. The pattern is supported by five tutorials that explain and demonstrate knitting methods used in these projects.
